Website Update Coming
July 9th, 2010
Hi Everybody,
I know that the website is woefully out of date. We have 3 new models, not to mention the “Cp Thornton Slick Neck” guitar polish, to showcase.
I have been waiting until all the updates were ready so as to do a single update as efficiently and inexpensively as possible. I’ve sent the info off to our website genius (he really is that good).
I hope you will be patient with me until we can get that done.

Hello Rich,
Great shots of the new Legends. Of course none of the photo shoots are ever lacking.
I was wondering about the use of the black back ground when photographing very dark backs of guitars. The backs become invisible for the most part, just curious though.
I didn’t notice any hand written numbering e.g. #xxx on the Legends, is that something that is changing or just not in the photos?
Also curious to know if you will be moving the existing photos inside the folders, ‘Latest Batch’ & ‘Sold Guitars’, to different folders or maybe moving them into that particular models folders that currently exist.
The web site has always been a very nice design. Great layout just a high quality looking web site.
Looking forward to the new changes.

Hi Lou!
Thank you!
The black background thing is a bit tricky. We use a black velvet background and set the lights for a particular shot, which can take a few minutes. We then rotate all the guitars through. If I change backgrounds, I’ll have to re-set the lights for each shot on the remaining guitar or two. I’m taking 300-400 raw photos to do an average 12-15 guitar batch, which takes a few hours as it is. I can’t photoshop it because it is too time consuming and would remove the “credibility” of shots that are processed only to subdue the background, correct color balance, and remove dust and fingerprints.
OK … enough excuses. I know it’s very much worth doing, but I admit I just haven’t had the get up and go to do it.
The Legend has its serial number on the inside of the back cover, just like a Blues Queen.
I will be moving the photos. I haven’t up until now for two reasons. First, the software we use didn’t have the capability to move galleries until a recent update. Up till now, I’ve had to delete each guitar and recreate it from scratch. Since that update, it’s been on my to do list, but I’ve been working full time on getting the new models engineered and the parts made, so the website has been falling behind.
I truly appreciate that you like the web site, and especially that you care enough to ask the questions that you do. I can take some credit for the site, but the final, classy, look is due to Tony at netthink21. He’s smart, quick, and a pleasure to work with.
Tony has the change list, and I will be going over it with him about it either later today or tomorrow. I’m as excited as you are to see the results.

Thanks Rich,
Duh! I just looked at my BluesQueen. I was so enthralled with it that I never noticed the number not being on the headstock.
Thank God for digital cameras, both a blessing and a curse. You can take so many photos for great results but to cull out a dozen pictures out of 300-400 well I guess you wouldn’t be doing that if you were using film…and considering that Chuck releases guitars in batches, well that is a ton of work.
Hey, thanks for the explanation Rich.
Those aren’t excuses either, I just learned a little of all the work that you have to do to present Chucks guitars in the best fashion possible. Anyone that owns one of Chucks great builds knows that they are very hard to duplicate in photos, compared to what you end up with in your hands. Makes me appreciate what you do even more.
I have worked with websites a little and the inability to move galleries had to be a pain. Glad the software is upgraded so it makes all your lives easier. Still, this is one of the best websites I have seen. Very classy and professional. I’m glad that DAG seems to have done it well also.
Take care, hope to meet ya some time on one of my sojourns to Chucks for a new piece. One is approaching soon.

EEK! I didn’t mean to imply that I took 3-400 shots per guitar!
It’s 300-400 for a batch of about 12. I use about 10-20 shots per guitar, prep them and put them up.
You’re very welcome!
Let me know when you’re coming up and I’ll make the drive over.
