Most of the New Batch is Up
June 10th, 2010

Hi Everybody!

I’ve posted the latest batch of guitars … sort of.

I’ve held back the images of our latest model so that we can arrange for some new marketing.

I’ll have them up soon, so please stay tuned!

Well, I go something to say about this latest batch: THEY ARE THE CREAM OF THE CROP!

Legend #238: my goldtop that I have been lusting for. That thing sounds SO awesome thru every amp I own, especially the older Fenders [DR, Jazz King, Princeton Reverb, Blues Jr., & Vibro King]. I’m especially pleased with it thru my Chicago Blues Box and Dr. Z [both 18W amps with great cleans and grit]. The tonal palette on this one is beyond my wildest expectations – not only does it cover the country, blues, & rock I wanted, it just nails some jazz tones I haven’t found anywhere else. Chucks new trapezoid inlays were the biggest visual surprise…. talk about different & elegant [ever think you'd refer to a trapezoid inlay as elegant?]. Least surprise is that it has the usual wonderful neck feel I’ve come to expect from Chuck and it plays like a dream. Only 8.2#, and I simply cannot keep my hands off it. Some may have seen the pics I posted on the Gear Page of it.

Legend #230: the darkburst in the bunch that stunned me with its looks alone. I came home from the visit and immediately started thinning my harem and have purchased it, too. Just wait until you see this baby’s pic. And priced hundreds below the shipped price of the one it resembles on Musician’s Friend.

Pro Acoustic #228: Simply one of the most amazing innovations out of Chuck’s shop. Plays like an archtop; sounds like an acoustic – only clearer and better. This could be the one to surprise us all in sales. Not for everyone, just those who play acoustic amplified and want the finest tone and playability. I made the decision today to sell my Taylor T-5 and order one of these.

Blues Queen #231: Cream top black back & sides, gold hardware, & trimmed in gold leaf top binding. It was built for Lou, I believe. Stunning, so hauntingly stunning. I couldn’t quit looking at it. He’s gonna love it.

Frofessional #236: About the most beautiful guitar on the planet. It pulls your eyes to it from any direction. Flawless construction. This thing is Chuck Thornton at his very, very best. I didn’t play it…. I just couldn’t. All I could do was drool all over it and savor great feelings about whoever pulls the trigger on this one. Someone needs to grab this one QWIK!!

This batch of guitars was the most awesome sight I’ve ever seen. Un-freakin’ believable. Hurry and get the rest of these pics up, Rich.

That Pro Acoustic has got to be the sexiest guitar I’ve ever seen!
& the Cream gold leaf Blues Queen with the black back, I’d say is spec out perfectly. Well done!
    Wish they were mine
    Once again Bravo Chuck!

I also saw Dan’s new Legend – which he has also posted on youtube by now. Dan, big congrats on such a beautiful, toneful guitar. We are the 2 most fortunate GAS sufferers in South Carolina…. maybe in the entire USA!! I’m sure Chuck will show off these babies soon. I can’t believe that together, you and I own 75% of all the Legends in the world.

Ok folks, I am compelled to rant and rave over my new #231 Blues Queen.
Superlative is just a big 10 cent word for this magnificent creation.
Rich your photos are great but I have to say that this just has to be seen up close and personal to get the true creamy color of this rig.

The transition from the gold leaf edging (which is maximum patience, pain staking work to apply) then the black white black inlay, and then the cream top is that extra magic that Chuck works. The all black back, neck, sides and headstock was Chucks idea. He envisioned that it would come together wondefully and boy was that spot on. The Pearl inlay on the head stock, Ivory tuner buttons and the thin accenting head stock inlay are all just magnificent. Gold hardware was just the ticket to set the whole thing off and pull that look together.
It has an amazing classy vintage look which was just what we were all going for.

I love to see natural wood and this is my first guitar with soild colors but this is just gorgeous.
I also must mention that the finished neck is as slick as goose poo on ice. Chucks new polish is just great stuff.

This guitar design happened at the spur of the moment while picking up my Honey Burst Classic.
I think this is one of those magic moments when ideas get tossed around and the result was from the input of my fiancee, Chuck, Jeano and myself of course. It didn’t hurt that I had Jeano’s Blues Queen to sample and it literally gave my gal goose bumps when she heard it and she said I had to have one, now that my friends is a great woman.

While I was at the CPT Shop I was able to sample the last available newly created LEGEND MODEL which will be going to the Montreal guitar show with Chuck. Let me tell you folks that that guitar is amazing. Excellent tone is all over this piece, I just wish I could play well enough to do it justice. These guitars are going to be flying out the door. The color and finish on this piece is just beautiful. Drool factor 9 I would say.

I also spent some real quality time with the new Acoustic guitar that Chuck created. I do some finger picking and this guitar sounds unbelievable when played through and acoustic amp which I just happen to have with me. The amp developed some issues sadly, I think it needs a fix up, but when you play this guitar you can’t believe that you aren’t playing a full blown dreadnaught or similar acoustic guitar. With it’s ease of body fit and ease of playing like a standard electric it is a dream. Close your eyes and you have acoustic tone second to none. I did some drop D playing with it and man it was just a thumpin along. Wait till you hear what a real player can do with this creation.

I have to say that when I see photos of all the varied flavors of customers guitars it is just too much eye candy.
I must admit I have a bad case of GAS but Chuck is going to make me explode :-)
I think Chuck should be supplying CPT bibs with every guitar because everybody drools on them before they can distract themselves by playing them.

Too many choices?? No not really, just more grand opportunities for owning EXCELLENCE…..

    Later, Lou D.

I’ll be brief, … promise. Dan declares [above] that the Pro II is the sexiest guitar he’s ever seen. I’m here to declare that after drooling over guitars since 1962, it ranks as only the 2nd SEXIEST GUITAR that I’ve ever see. Lou D’s Blues Queen #231 is #1 on my list. It truly is the most stunning, alluring, haunting guitar I’ve ever laid my eyes on. I’ve been in guitar stores from Boston to Honolulu and many, many guitar shows & I’d put #231 at the top of the heap. And just because Chuck made it, that thing must play as good as it looks. Way to go, Lou. Congrats on the guitar AND the brilliant girlfriend.

    Thank you Jay,

BQ#231 really is a stunning piece of craftsmanship. What is so so cool is that every one of the instruments I have from Chuck has it’s own wonderful voice and I sincerely mean that.
The BQ sounds unlike any other guitar I have laid hands on, its tones are like its contrasting colors. It can go from silky creamy to the raucous dark blues. It has this gut grabbing cry to it that is so hard to describe. When my lady said it raised the hair on the back of her neck and gave her goose bumps she was not joking, she was really serious.

Chuck and I were A/B comparing my Stu-Daddy Deluxe Reverb with Chucks 67 DR.
Stu uses the normal channel as a point to build that circuit to sound like a vintage Tweed amp W/reverb. When I asked Chuck to unplug from the vibrato channel and go to the normal (tweed) channel it was amazing. After hitting a couple licks Chucks eyes just opened wide and both he and I were both floored by the tones that came forth. I just got this amp from Stu and hadn’t had time to mess with it. Both the BQ & Legend were just honkin, I mean vibes..

As stunning as the BQ sounded and it is stunning, well when we hooked up the Legend it was a whole new world there. The Legend was singing, screaming, warm smooth jazzing, and those tones stuck in my head well enough for me to realize these are such different tone monsters that I had to have them both.

The Legend is going to become exactly what it is named, and Chuck’s choice of name for the Blues Queen is dead on the money. The BQ is a crying mans guitar, if you have a tormented soul well brother it will tell the whole world about it. Just that damn good.

Actually Chucks choice of names for all his models is very appropriate if you think about it. Each name really represents the model it identifies.

So thanks again for the kind words about BQ231. Yes, it sounds just as good as it looks and It all comes from the heart and soul of Mr. C P Thornton. Oh geez, now where did I put that drool bib again…..

    Hey Rich,
I can’t wait to see the new photos of the Legend Model. My guess is you’ll have to revise the web site a bit as your running out of room to squeeze all the guitar models in to the one photo used on the main page.
If Chuck keeps adding in new models I’ll have to get a wider monitor :-)

I really think the Acoustic Pro II and the Legend are going to be in demand. I spent time with them both at Chucks and I told chuck, these are both going to be Hot.

Looking forward to the new Pics and or maybe site redesign Rich…
