Hi everybody!
We just got the PDF of the review of our Legend guitar in the April issue of The ToneQuest Report.
Our guitar is on the cover and is the subject of the lead article (the review itself starts on page 4).
Allow me to share a few quotes:
[T]he Legend’s vibrant intensity is entirely unique when compared to past evaluations of mahogany Les Paul models.
If you’re predominantly a single coil player for whom humbucking guitars and Les Pauls in particular seem to possess an uncomfortably stereotyped sound … [t]his could be a game changer for such players.
What would you rather play – a great Historic Les Paul or the Thornton?” And our answer will be, “Given a choice, we’d prefer to play both for entirely different reasons, but if we needed to cover the broadest range of styles and tones, we’d pick the Legend.”
Both Chuck and I are overwhelmed, and truly grateful.

Thanks for posting this. As one who has loved the tone & beauty of LP’s for over 40 years, I was also unfortunately unable to even pull the trigger on one after playing them in stores across the nation. I finally went ahead and bought one in Atlanta about 3 years ago, then wound up selling it to a friend after it sat there collecting dust for about 6 months. Imagine my excitement when Chuck agreed to build me one. I ordered a goldtop. I went to see him after it was finished and was INSTANTLY bonded with his creation. Finally, the touch, the tones, the neck feel, the highest of construction quality I’d come to expect…. it was all there, and more. Some days I still just stand there and stare in disbelief that the missing piece of my collection is no longer missing. As a huge fan of The Tonequest Report, I must echo all the praise & accolades that the reviewers give to Chuck & this almost unbelievable guitar. It is SO rare that a reviewer will go this far in a review. It’s one thing to describe & analyze; it’s quite another to lay out one distinction after another vs. an icon like the LP & to heap such praise on the new kid on the block. The review took nothing from the LP & the fine guitar that it continues to be; and it also gave credit for chuck’s use of excellent materials, his world-class workmanship, and the delightfully broader range of styles & tones that the Legend offers.
I had a friend ask me last week, “….but is the Legend worth so much more money?” I had to refer him to this website & invite him to verify my response: “It would be worth it to me if it DID cost more, but you add up the options that you’d want on your Legend, compare that to the final cost of the LP you’re considering, & in many cases it costs little or no more to have Chuck make one for you.” He checked it all out, & now he’s ordering a Legend.
The Tonequest Review is a highly respected magazine that has NO advertisements & no favors to repay. If I had still not pulled the trigger on a LP type guitar before reading that, I’m sure I’d be doing it now. BUT, as the owner of 2 amazing Legends already, I’m a happy camper.

As far as a all encompassing statement of Chucks builds, It just don’t get any better then this.

After having some intimate fondling time with Chuck’s new creation, it was a no-brainer to place an order. This this is THE BOMB!! What a comfortable, focused, sweet playing guitar this is. Oh, it is in keeping with the other models on materials, construction, & looks; but this is a player’s dream. A different animal entirely from the others in Chuck’s stable. So, thanks to a flurry of orders, I gotta wait about 6 months to get one. I can do this….
This is truly the one CpT model I wish all my guitar buddies owned. Made for the working musician, but one you’ll keep & pass on in a will.
