We are going to attend the Montreal Guitar Show over the July 4th weekend this summer!

I can’t make any promises but, if possible, we will have the new Legacy model there, along with any other surprises that Chuck can cook up.

I know its in Canada, and that will be on the July 4th weekend, but it would be awesome if we got to see some of our friends while we were up there!

Our New Shop!

Hi All,

We’ve had a number of requests to post pictures of the new shop now that it’s up and running, so here are a bunch of pictures of the new shop.

It’s a work in progress, and not quite finished yet, but it already feels like a shop should, especially with Chuck’s trusted “assistant” Lexi Lu working in quality control.

Chuck is hard at work on three new models. The first batch of the new “Legacy” model is being built now and there are still a couple available. Call Chuck for descriptions and availability. Stay tuned for news of the other two new guitars!

The Batch is Up and Shop News

Rich has posted the photos from the latest batch of guitars! We have branched out a bit this time, with a glued-neck, all mahogany, Classic Jr. I think that all the guitars came out beautifully, and now that they’re gone, I can finish putting together the new shop.

We’ve taken down the spraybooth, and transferred over the heavy equipment. Now we have to finish the move (and get the new shop heater working - it’s been incredibly cold for the last 2 days).

I can’t wait to have the new shop up and running.

New Shop and Current Batch Pics

Hi All,

It continues to be monumentally busy between setting up the new shop and continuing to work on new guitars. I’m adding something a little new this week; a chance to see some guitars in different phases of the build. These are from the new batch of Fusions and Classics. I’m really excited about the fret board inlays we’ve been working on. Let us know what you think. We’re always excited to hear feedback.

I’m also putting up a few snapshots of the home and shop in Sumner. We’re pretty excited by the way it’s coming along. We absolutely love the house. The shop is quite the project as you can see. It doesn’t have a roof yet and we’ve got some rock ledges that we’re having to work around, but it’s going to be amazing when it’s finished.

New Address / Temporary Phone Issues

Hi Everybody,

Chuck is working like a madman building out our new shop in his “spare time” while he finishes the current batch of guitars. We won’t actually be building the guitars there for a month or two, but we are now getting our mail there.

Unfortunately, as many of you know, our phone number is Chuck’s cell phone, and there’s no reception at the new shop. As of now, he’s not able to answer the phone all the time, but only when he goes to the old shop and receives his messages.

Until our new business line is in, I would ask you to be patient in waiting for a call back, but, just in case of emergency, I’ve posted Chuck’s home phone to the contact page. As always, please limit calls to Monday through Saturday, between 8am and 6pm Eastern Standard Time.

Our new home

Hi everyone! I’m trying my best to keep everyone updated on the blog. It’s been a very busy time for me lately. I just moved into my new home. It’s a completely renovated New England style farmhouse on about 6.5 acres. It was built in 1910 and I really love it here! With that comes the new home for CP Thornton Guitars. We’re in the process of adding on to an existing barn on the property so that I can work on building guitars right at home. It should offer me some new freedom to design more models and continue to refine the models I have. Richard and I are as committed now as we’ve ever been to making the finest instruments available. Be sure to check in the gallery. We’ll be adding new guitars over the next month or so, and with the new finishes, they’ve never looked better!

New Model!

I am proud to announce that we now have a new model called the Eastern Elite. This is an Elite Guitar made with all Eastern Maple and without F-Holes. This model will bring more of an “old world” look to the Elite series guitars.

Guitar #212 is the first Eastern Elite!

NITROCELLULOSE!

I’m sorry for the recent lack of posting, but I’ve been in the middle of purchasing a new home and shop. On top of my shop schedule, it’s been one heck of a busy couple of months!

This batch (Rich is going to upload the photos tomorrow) features nitro top coats, and the next batch will have an ALL nitro finish.

We love the old-fashioned lacquer here. It is a little more subtle than our old topcoat; it’s richer, with a little less glare in the reflections. It has an indefinable sense of class.

It takes longer to dry, and it takes a lot more coats to fill the grain, but it is a thinner, prettier, finish and we’re thrilled to be using it.
